China. (French Forces in China). 1937. Air Mail envelope headed 'Forces de Terre/ Francaise en Chine/ Etat Major (Tien-Tsin), addressed to 'Monsieur l'Ambassadeur de la Republique Francaise au Japan, French Embassy, Tokio' bearing China SG 398, 5c green and SG 419, 30c mauve (3) tied by Tientsin date stamp with circular 'Troupes Francaise en Chine/ Le Commandant Superieur' in violet on face and reverse, routed via Manchuria with Dairen/ I.N.P.O. in violet on reverse '17th Sept 37'. Scarce item from the French Ground Forces in Tientsin.
On July 30th 1937 Tientsin fell to the Empire of Japan as part of the Military Operation to the Second Sino-Japanese War.
