Air Mail envelope written from 'Dr Major Schouten, Netherlands East Indies Army , Camp Columbia, New South Wales' addressed to 'Madame Schouten, Tilburg, Holland' bearing Australia SG 179, 1/2d orange, SG 185, 2d bright purple, SG 187, 3d brown, SG 204, 1 1/2d green, SG 205, 2d purple , SG 206, 2 1/2d scarlet, SG 207, 3 1/2d blue, SG 209, 2 1/2d lake and SG 210, 3 1/2d ultramarine tied by Brisbane date stamp with circular 'Passed by R,N,F, Censor/ No 31' in carmine with '1' censor cachet in violet and boxed 'O.A.T.' on face with Tilburg arrival. Major Dr. Schouten had been a Doctor at the Royal Netherlands East Indies Army, Camp Columbia, Wacol, Brisbane and served with the 'RAPWI' (Recovery of Allied Prisoner of War and Internees) in the Dutch Indies, Timor and Thailand. The NEI Government in Exile was quartered in Camp Columbia from 1944. Lovely item of mail from Major Schouten at Camp Columbia paying the Correct 1/9 registered fee.
