Australia. (Netherlands East Indies Government In Exile). 1945. Air Mail envelope written from 'Dr Major Schouten, Truscott Airfield ,Western Australia addressed to 'Madame Schouten, Holland' bearing Australia SG 189, 5d purple, SG 188, 4d green (strip of three), SG 203, 1d purple and SG 206, 2 1/2d scarlet tied by Air Force P.O./ No 20 date stamp with framed 'O.A.T. ' in red on face. Major Dr. Schouten had been a Doctor at the Royal Netherlands East Indies Army, Camp Columbia, Wacol, Brisbane and served with the 'RAPWI' (Recovery of Allied Prisoner of War and Internees) in the Dutch Indies, Timor and Thailand. the NEI Government in Exile was quartered in Camp Columbia from 1944. Very nice item of mail from Major Schouten at Truscott Air Base, Western Australia.
