Registered Air Mail envelope written from 'Dr Major Schouten, Netherlands East Indies Army, Camp Casino, New South Wales' addressed to Madam Schouten, Tilburg Holland' bearing Australia SG 179, 1/2d orange, SG 181, 1d maroon (pair), SG 187, 3d brown ,SG 188, 4d green, SG 204, 1 1/2d green, SG 205, 2d bright purple, SG 206, 2 1/2d scarlet and SG 208, 5 1/2d slate tied by Casino/ N.S.W.' double ring '22nd June 45' with matching registered label with 'Opened by Censor' label tied by '2/ Passed by Censor/ 1753' , routed via Sydney with hand-struck instructional 'Non transmissible (No Service)' on face. Major Dr Schouten had been a Doctor at the Royal Netherlands East Indies Army, Camp Columbia, Wacol, Brisbane and served with the 'RAPWI' (Recover of Allied Prisoners of War and Internees) in the Dutch Indies, Timor and Thailand. The NEI Government in Exile was quartered in Camp Columbia from 1944. Very fine item from Major Schouten at Camp Casino paying the correct 1/9 registered rate.
