Bechuanaland. (South Africa). 1932. Registered Official Mail envelope headed 'On His Majesty's Service' addressed to New York written from Mafeking with oval 'Post Office Mafeking/ 3-Aug 1932/ Head Office for Bechuanaland Protectorate' in violet on face and bearing SG 75, 1 1/2d brown, SG 78, 2 1/2d cobalt-blue and SG 79, 3d violet tied by Lobatsi double ring '5th Aug' with oval ''R' hand-stamp and endorsed 'Registered/ Lobatsi No (1251) in red ink, routed via Kimberly with New York arrival 'Sept 7.' on reverse.
The Lobatsi date stamp was used in Mafeking 'B' from (22.1.32) - (16.11.32). Mafeking did not receive a Registration hand-stamp until 1935, the hand-struck 'R' is applied in Lobatsi.
