Bechuanaland Protectorate. Circa 1940. Stamp-less envelope headed 'On Active Service' addressed to England cancelled by oval 'Bechuanaland Protectorate Group/ A.A.P.C.' in violet. Very fine.
The African Auxiliary Pioneer Company was established in July 1941 recruiting Africans for the Allied War effort. Basutoland, Swaziland and Bechuanaland provided the men, 3000 enlisted from Bechuanaland.
