Folded letter addressed to Rio Grande de Sol, Brazil cancelled by Hamburg date stamp '5th Dec 68' in red, endorsed 'per Steamer via Southampton', rated '28 1/2' schillings in red crayon, routed via London with 'London Paid' transit '7th Dec', charged '2/-' indicating that the rate to Rio Grande was paid.
Attractive cover paying the double letter rate for '30 grams' . Sent on the steamer "Danube" which left Southampton 'December 9th' arriving 11th January 1869. This was the last voyage of the "Danube".
