British Solomon Islands. (New Zealand). 1943. Stamp-less Air Mail envelope endorsed 'On Active Service' written from the 'Rev. A.E.W. Silvester, Bilua, Vella Lavella, British Solomon Islands' dated '27th April 1943' addressed to 'Rev. A.H. Scrivan, Auckland, New Zealand' and endorsed 'Air Mail' with framed 'Censored. Signature/ R.N.Z.A.F.' and signed by the Censor, "Sub-Lieut H.E. Joselyn", then routed via Guadalcanal with manuscript 'Opened by Mr Goldie/ 23/5/43' in blue ink on face.
A censored cover written by the "Rev. Silvester" from Bilua on '27th April 43' to the "Rev. A.H. Scrivin" the General Secretary of the Methodist Mission, in Auckland'. The cover was dispatched without stamps as all previously available stamps having been used.
By some means the cover reached Guadalcanal but the actual censoring was done by "Sub-Lieut H.E. Josselyn of the 'R.A.N.V.R." (Royal Australian Volunteer Reserves) was at the time the "Coastwatcher" on Vella Lavella'.
