BURMA. (CENSOR MAIL). 1939. Envelope addressed to England bearing Burma SG 26, 3d dull violet tied by Rangoon double ring '4th Sept 39' with blank censor label and triangular 'Passed Censor/ Rangoon/ 1' in violet on face and 'Passed Censor/ Rangoon/ 2' on reverse. The cover is endorsed "1st Letter Through since War Began" and dated '20/9/39' on face. Great Britain declared war on Germany at 12 noon on 3rd Sept 1939. The C.C.S.G. does not record this blank label from Burma which may well have been in use as a Provisional censor for just two days.
