Registered Air Mail envelope headed 'Banque de L' Afrique Occidentale/ Siege de Douala' addressed to London bearing Great Britain SG 485, 1/2d pale green and SG 489, 2 1/2d pale blue (2) tied by Leicester Square date stamp '4th Nov 42' with Matching registered label and circular 'Le Directeur du Cabinet Civil/ Camerouns Francaise/ Libre' on face with 'France Combattante/ Q.G. Carlton Gardens/ Bureaudu Courrier' in violet on reverse and endorsed 'Vu pour Control/ Douala le 4 December 1942/ Le Directaur du Cabinet Civil.' Scarce item from the Camerouns to 'de Gaulle's headquarters at Carlton Gardens, London' . Sent the double Atlantic route. Ex Maddocks and illustrated in his book.
