Camerouns. (French Camerouns). 1943. Stamp-less envelope written from the 'Marine Artillery, F.N.F.L., Douala', endorsed 'F.M.' (Francaise Militaire), addressed to Yaounde cancelled by Douala date stamp '20th Juil 43' with circular 'Controle Postal/ Commission A/ Territoire du Camerouns' and framed 'F.M.' on face with Yaounde arrival '23rd Juil' on reverse. Maddocks reasons the boxed 'FM' is an abbreviation of 'Fusiliers Marins'. Lovely item from the French Navy Forces Libre in Douala. Illustrated in Maddox.
