Stamp-less envelope written from Kapuskasing, Prisoner of War (Internment Camp) addressed to 'Comite International de la Croix Rouge, Agence des Prisonniers de Guerre, Geneve, Switzerland' cancelled by circular 'Passed by Internment Censor/ Kapuskasing. Ont/ Apr 10 1918' in carmine on face and hand-stamped 'Received by Censor/ Apr 5 1918/ Kapuskasing/ Internment Station' in blue-green on reverse with 'Examined by Censor/ C. 217' label and Geneva arrival '17th June 18' on reverse. Scarce item, the camp housed German, Austrian and Turkish prisoners with the majority Canadian of Ukrainian descent.
