Stamp-less folded letter written from Valparaiso dated '14th November 1853' addressed to France cancelled by British Post Office 'Valparaiso' date stamp 'Nov 15' with framed 'Via Panama = Inglaterra' in blue, bold hand-struck 'Panama/ Transit' in red on face, routed via London with French entry cachet, Paris transit and Chalons S. Saone arrival '7th Jan 1854' on reverse, taxed with hand-struck '42' for triple rate cover, top left m/s '8' for the ship-letter fee. Very nice cover.
