Chile. (Great Britain). 1857. Folded wrapper addressed to Valparaiso, Chile bearing Great Britain 'Embossed' SG 58, 6d mauve (two pairs) tied by Liverpool spoon '1st Jan 57', routed via London and Southampton, sent on the steamer "Magdalena", routed via St. Thomas, transferred to the "Solent" arriving in Colon and crossing the Isthmus, anointed 'Valparaiso '22nd Feb' on inside flap.
Very attractive item sent by Royal Mail Steam Packet and Pacific Steam. Paid two shillings for the half oz pre-paid rate but charged with bold hand-struck '25' (centavos) in vermilion payment on arrival.
