China. (French Indo-China). 1904. French Indo-China Type 'Grasset' SG 30 / 46 set of 17 in strips of three overprint 'Specimen'.
Stamps of French Indo-China were received by the Rhodesian Post Office from the U.P.U. in Berne and applied with their own gum to pages from a commercially bought stamp album and the 'SPECIMEN' type R4 hand-stamp applied.
French Indo-China 'Grasset' set in strips of three overprint 'Specimen' with receipt date and dispatch number written alongside. The Specimen hand-stamp is the fancy type R4 listed by Marcus Samual and James Bendon unique to Rhodesia and certainly on the stamps of French Indo-China.
These unique "SPECIMEN" stamps were 'Liberated' from the Rhodesia Post Office in the early 1980's and have just appeared on the market for the first time.
