CHINA/TAIWAN. (Prisoner of War mail). 1943. Stamp-less envelope headed 'Service Des Prisonniers de Guerre' addressed to Signalman A.L. May. British Prisoner of War c/o Prisoner of War, Taiwan Camp' cancelled Norwood '13th Sept 1943' with 'Opened by Examiner/6690' in censor label and boxed 'Sazawabutai'' (Sazawa Unit) and circular ''Kawaida'' censor seal in red and endorsed 'Prisoner of War Camp 6' in red crayon (Indicating Signalman May was Camp 6, Taihoku' and received '25/12/44' in m/s on reverse. Only four 'Kawaida' circular censor seals recorded by Tett. Very fine.
Signalman May was one of 500 POW's transported on Oct 27 42 from Singapore on "Dai Niche Maru" arrived in Takao Port, Taiwan in Feb 43 and incarcerated in Takao Camp.
