China. (Japanese Post Office in China - Philippines). 1907. Picture post card of 'Pagoda, Chefoo' written from the "U.S.S. Pennsylvania" addressed to the "U.S.S. Rainbow", Philippines bearing Japan SG 140, 4s rosine tied by Chefoo/ I.J.P.O. '12th July', routed via Hong Kong '22nd July' with Manila receiver on face. Nice item.
The "U.S.S. Rainbow was built by James Laing, Sunderland in 1890 and from 1902 served the Asiatic Fleet as part of the Philippine Squadron based in Cavite.
