China. (Yunnan Kunming - United States Air Service Station). 1945. Stamp-less U.S. Army illustrated envelope and hand-stamped 'POW' written from Kunming dated '8th April 1945' endorsed '158th A.A.C.S. Sta. 303/ APO 627 c/o P.M. N.Y.C.' and endorsed 'Free' addressed to 'A.A.C.S. Sta 201/ A.P.O. 609, Local Theater, cancelled by U.S. Army/ Postal Service/ 627' date stamp 'Apr 10 45' with framed 'Passed By/ 23315 US/ Army Examiner' on face.

Commercial mail with letter from 'Army Post Office 627, Kunming (Yunnan) 158th Airways and Air Communications Service Station' addressed to A.P.O. 629, Chabua, India.

Due to lack of writing paper and envelopes the sender has used a 'P.O.W.' stamped envelope assigned to be used by the Prisoners of War on the base.
