Stamp-less envelope written from 'Hurtados Hermanos/ Panama' (with firms chop in red on face) dated 'Jan 5th 1856' addressed to France routed via Colon with double arc date stamp Colon in red on reverse 'Ja 8' with framed Anglo-French accountancy 'Colonies/ Art 18' in red on face, London and French entry cachets '30th Jan' and charged hand-struck '15'. A very fine combination with the scarce British Post Office 'Colon' and Article 18 accountancy only in use in 1856. A wonderful Exhibition item.
