A.P.O. 617, c/o Postmaster, New York' addressed to South Africa bearing United States "Transporter" SG A901, 6c carmine tied by U.S. Army Postal Service/ A.P.O. with 'Passed By Army Examiner/ U.S. 22002' censor, endorsed 'via New York'.

United States Army Post Office 617 was opened at GURA, Eritria 20th July 1942 and moving to ASMARA 1st October 1943.
