Air Mail envelope headed 'On Active Service' addressed to Libreville, Gabon, Free French Equatorial Africa bearing Great Britain SG 474, 10d turquoise tied by Field Post Office double ring with adjacent 'Crown/ Passed by Censor/ No 811' hand-stamp in violet with circular '213' censor on reverse and Egyptian 'Examined by Censor' label (red on white) tied by 'Deputy Chief Field Censor' in violet with Free French 'Poste Aux Armees/ B.C.M. 4' date stamp '16th Dec 43', routed via Brazzaville/ Moyen Congo with censor tape tied by oval 'Ouvert/ Par L' Autorite Militaire' with 'Controle Postal/ Commission C/ Afrique Equatoriale Francaise' struck twice on face, 'C/4' censor cachet and Brazzaville and Libreville/ A.E.F. arrival '13th Jan 44' on reverse. Very nice item from the Free French Forces in Syria sent Air Mail across Africa to Gabon.
