Censored envelope addressed to France bearing Martinique Yvert 148a, 1f carmine tied by Fort de France/ Martinique date stamp '2nd Oct 41' in violet with circular 'Controle Postal/ Martinique/ 1' in red on face and plain brown censor tape tied by oval 'Ouvert/Par/ L' Autorite Militaire' in red on face and reverse, routed via Trinidad with 'Opened by Examiner/ 8029' and hand-stamped '16 Dec 1941' in violet transit censor, underpaid and bearing French postage due Yvert 37, 50c lilac (bottom right corner margin with date stamp 18.5.40) applied and tied by Toulon receiver '24th Feb 42.' Lovely item of censored mail, detained in Trinidad for censorship.
