Air Mail envelope addressed to 'B.P. 86, Noumea, New Caledonia' bearing French Oceania Yvert 166, 5f yellow tied by Papeete date stamp '23rd Aout 43' with circular 'Controle Postal/ Etablisements Francais/ De L'Oceanie' on face and 'Controle Postal Militaire' censor label with oval 'Ouvert/ Par/ L' Autorite Militaire' cachet on reverse, routed via Sydney with 'Opened by Censor/ 2' label tied by framed '2/ Passed by Censor/ 1187' cachet in violet and hand-stamped '5' on reverse (Supervisors checking) and New Caledonia censor 'Censure/ Nouvelles Caledonie/ 9' applied on arrival with m/s Returned without editing address) with Papeete receiver '19th Nov 43' on face. Very fine.
