French Colonies. (Gabon). 1889. Registered envelope addressed to London bearing French Gabon Yvert 13, 25c on 20c black imperf (2) tied by Libreville/ Gabon double ring '19th Avril 89' with framed hand-struck 'R', routed via Bordeaux a Paris ambulant '21st Mai' with oval 'Registered/ London receiver on face in red '22nd May 89'.
Among the French Colonies very little mail is known from Gabon. A very rare item of Registered mail with French General Colony postage dues overprinted and surcharged for use in Gabon during a stamp shortage.
