Gibraltar. (United States). 1852. Stamp-less folded letter written from Gibraltar dated '8th July 1852' addressed to Boston, routed via Southampton on the "Tagus" to London and Liverpool with transit '27th July' and carried on the "Collins" Line packet "Pacific" arriving New York '8th August', charged with hand-struck '24' in black on face and bold hand-stamp '3 Cents' United States inland charge.

Gibraltar to U.K. via London and Liverpool. Sent unpaid so marked '24' (cents) in black as postage due. This being 3 cents (1 1/2 pence) British inland postage, hence the 3 cent accountancy mark, 5 cents (2 1/2 pence) United States inland postage and 16 cents (8 pence) Sea postage.
