Fontell' with agents hand-stamp in blue and arriving at destination '10th Avril.'
Interesting item saving the sender 7 1/2 pence in postage by mailing from Christinastad.
1852 rate from London via Belgium was 11 1/2d. / 1/2 oz. 1844 inland rate from Russian Imperial mail and for Finland and Russian Poland was fixed at 10 kopecks for up to one lot (12. 8 grammes), regardless of distance. The saving on postage was therefore 11 1/2d - 4d = 7 1/2d.
