Envelope addressed to France bearing Guatemala Yvert 10, 2r brown (pair) tied by Guatemala date stamp '19th Dec 77' with adjacent 'Correos de Guatemala/Paquetes' in red '19/12' , underpaid with circular 'T' hand-stamp routed via New York '15th Jan 78' , charged with hand-struck '50' and routed by French paquebot with octagonal 'Etas-Unis V. Angal. Amb. Cal A' on face '27/1' and Chalamont arrival '28th Jan 78' on reverse. Cover repaired but pre UPU covers from Guatemala to France are nearly unique. (Guatemala Joined the UPU 1st April 1881).
Pre U.P.U. envelope to France paying the 4 reales rate via the United States to France, carried via the Isthmus of Panama and up to and by 'Pacific Mail Ship Company via New York.
