Stamp less envelope written from Shanghai dated 'Shanghae August 14th 1858' addressed to the United States, endorsed 'via Marseille' with Hong Kong '19/8' and London 'Oct 15' on reverse with Boston/Br. Pkt arrival '27/10' and charged with hand-struck '45' on arrival with 40c debit to GB. Nice item of mail sent by the 'P&O' steamer 'Shanghae' to Hong Kong and then by packet via Marseilles and England.
