Netherlands East Indies. (Internment Camp Mail - Indian POW). 1941. Netherlands East Indies illustrated (Briefkaart) post-card bearing Netherlands Indies SG 339, 3 1/2c grey written ffom Djokjakarta dated '13th March 1941' cancelled by Djojakarta date stamp addressed to 'E. Jackle, Internment Camp, Alas Vallei, Koeta Tjane, Sumatra', with 'Gecensureerd/ 2' hand-stamp in carmine, forwarded on the 'S.S. "Plancius" to India with framed 'Crown/ Passed/ DHN/ 3' censor applied in Dehra Dun Internment Camp.
German Internee 'E. Jackle' had been interned with 2461 men in Alasvallei Camp, they were divided into four groups, 75 to old and sick to travel, the remaining three groups consisting 975 and 938 on the 'S.S. "Plancius" and 478 on the ill fated 'S.S. "Imhoff".
