Stamp-less envelope written from Belgaum, Prisoner of War Camp addressed to 'Bureau International de la Croix Rouge, Berne, Switzerland' cancelled 'Service of Prisoners of War/ Colonel/ Supt. Civil Camp, Belgaum' and signed by the Camp Commander, routed via Bombay with circular 'Passed Censor/ Bombay/ 12' and 'Opened by Censor' label in red on reverse. Very fine item, lovely quality cachet.
The Internment Camp at Belgaum housed internes from Austria and Germany, predominantly women.
