India. (Austria - P.O.W. Camp Mail). 1942. Letter headed 'Family J. Antosch, Schweglerstrasse, Wien' dated '10th December 1942' addressed to J. Antosch, No 55514, Internment Camp, Deoli (Ajmer), c/o G.P.O. Bombay.' with hand-stamp 'DHP/ 118' censor in violet and endorsed '5th March 1943' the date received.
Josef Antosch (German) had been taken P.O.W. in the Dutch East Indies and interned in Alas Vallei Camp, Sumatra before being transferred to various camps in British India. His wife and children had been in Salatiga Protection Camp for women and children before being sent on the "S.S. Jumper" via North China to Japan.
