Envelope written from (Polish Refugee), Indie, Kolhapur' addressed to London bearing India SG 277, 14a purple tied by 'Experimental P.O.' double ring '6th Sept 44', with 'P.C. 90/ Opened by Examiner' label tied by framed 'Crown/ Passed DHC/ 66' on reverse with 'DHC/ 458' hand-stamp in violet on face.
When Soviet Forces entered Poland an estimated one million Poles were deported to Labour Camp Gulags in Siberia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
An estimated 5000 women and children were placed in the settlement at Valivade near Kolhapur.
Mail from the Polish Refugee's is almost impossible to find as most children were orphans and the women widows.
