India. (Prisoner of War Air Mail - Germany). 1943. Air Mail post card headed 'Service of Prisoners of War' dated '13th Jan 1943', written by 'Josef Antosch, No 55514, Internment Camp, Deoli (Ajmer), Wing 3, c/o G.P.O. Bombay, British India' addressed to 'Rudolf Antosch, Germany' bearing India SG 273, 4a brown tied by Bombay G.P.O. double ring '3rd March', endorsed 'Air Mail' with framed 'Crown/ Passed/ DHP/ 8' censor and hand-stamped 'DHP/ 118' in violet on face and circular German censor cachet 'Ab' applied on arrival, anointed '3.4.43.' indicating date received.

Josef Antosch (German) had been taken P.O.W. by the Allies in the Dutch Indies and held at 'Alasvallei Internment Camp before being moved to various camps in British India, later he was repatriated from Dehra Dun, British India P.O.W. Camp on the 'S.S. "Marine Jumper" to a repatriation camp in the British and American Zone in Germany.
His wife Poldi Antosch had been interned at the Salatiga Protection Camp for women and children before being moved via North China to Japan.

Scarce Air Mail post-card rate from Deoli (Ajmer) Camp. The card has been inspected by the censor and several lines erased on reverse.
