(British Ship Letters). 1790. stamp-less envelope written from Lucca, Jamaica dated '24th June 1790' addressed to Edinburgh endorsed 'by ship "Bird"/Capt Wylio' with hand-struck 'Greenock' and separate 'Ship' hand-stamp (Robertson S1), rated '5' in m/s with London Bishop on reverse in red 'Sp/13'. Very fine item paying the Captains gratuity 1d and In land Greenock-Edinburgh 4d.
