Japan. (Royal Air Force). 1947. Registered envelope addressed to Scotland bearing Great Britain SG 486, 1d pale scarlet (pair) and SG 489, 2 1/2d pale blue tied by "RAF. Post/ Registered/ 11' double ring on face and reverse dated '10th Oct 47' with framed hand-struck 'R/ R.A.F.P.O. 320/ Iwakuni' on face in blue.
Lovely item of registered mail from RAF 11 Base PO at Iwakuni part of the British Commonwealth Occupation Force.
This cover is used by Ted Proud in the volume "The Naval & R.A.F. Postal Services" and this is the only known example of R.A.F. 11 Registered postmark.
