Feldpost/ 77. Reserve-Div' date stamp '21st July 15' and adjacent 'Kaseir-Gewehr-Kompagnie/ Res-Infant-Regt. Nr 255/ Feldpost Briefstempel' in violet.
During World War One Japan invaded the German Colony of Qingdao, China and took 4,689 German and Austro-Hungarian soldiers as Prisoners. The soldiers were originally interned in 12 separate camps in Japan but were later transferred to 6 main camps, starting in September 1915. The Aonogahara Camp had a maximum of nearly 500 P.O.W.'s.
