Netherlands East Indies. (Prisoner of War - Malaya). 1944. Prisoner of War postal stationery card reading 'Jawa Furyo Shuyosho' (Java Prisoner of War Post) with 'Furyo Yubin' (Prisoner of War Post) and in red 'Jawa Furyo Shuyosho Ken'etsuzumi' (Java Prisoner of War Camp, Censored), erased with additional 'Java Gun Yokuryusho' (Java Army Detention Center) struck twice in red and violet, written from 'M. Schellart, No 25435, Java CQ (Bandoeng) to her husband 'H.I.I.M. Schellart, Private, Medan' dated '18th September 1944' with oval seal of "Iwamoto" with hand-struck instructional 'Transferred to Malaya/ Enemy Civilians Internment Camp Censored' in violet (faint seal applied) and circular censor seal unlisted by David Tett, endorsed '14/8/45' in faint pencil on face indicating the arrival date.
One of only four of these hand-stamp and deletion cards are known, they were made available to the Internees after 1st April 1944.
