Australian Red Cross envelope (solid bar, fifth variety) headed 'Prisoners of War Post/ Service Des Prisonniers de Guerre' written from Frankston, Victoria cancelled by Melbourne Vic roller dated '11th Oct 1943' addressed to 'No 216411 Pte J.H. Hoving, 1st Division Howitzers, Royal Netherlands Indies Army, Dutch Prisoner of War, Java' c/o Japanese Red Cross Society/ Tokyo, Japan' with '3 Opened by Censor' label on reverse tied by triangular framed '3/ Passed by Censor/ 382' in violet on face and reverse, routed via Japan with circular 'Societe De/ La Croix Rouge du Japan Tokio/ Service de Secours Pour Les Prisonniers de Guerre' in carmine, with boxed 'Ken'etsuzumi' (censored) hand-stamp in violet with oval seal of "Miura" in orange, endorsed 'Palembang' in blue crayon and hand-stamped with framed 'Mare e Ikan' (Transferred to Malaya) and endorsed 'M' for Malaya.
