Malaya. (Straits Settlements - Censor Wax Seal). 1940. Registered Air Mail envelope addressed to London bearing Straits Settlements SG 286, 25c scarlet and purple and SG 289, 50c black/ emerald (pair) tied by Registration/ Penang double ring '23rd Sept 1940' with matching 'Penang/ B' registration label with 'Passed By Censor/ Em 77' label tied by framed 'Passed By/ 37/ Censor' on face and reverse with 'Passed By Censor' red wax seals (two on face and two on reverse) applied in Penang and 'Opened By Examiner 4843' censor label applied on arrival.
The Penang wax red censor seals are exceptional quality with the number '3' not recorded by Konrad Morenweiser in 'British Empire Civil Censorship'.
