Registered Air Mail envelope addressed to the Netherlands bearing Netherlands East Indies SG 344, 10c scarlet (4) tied by Cheribon date stamp '7th May 40' with matching registration label, routed via Bangkok with circular '5' censor hand-stamp in violet with instructional 'Retour Afzender/ Postverbinding Opgeheven' (Postal Service Broken) on face and returned to Cheribon '26th June 40' .
Germany invaded the Netherlands on 10.5. 1940 and the mail service was suspended, this item was intercepted en-route and returned.
