(Netherlands Young Mans Association, Veldpost, Medan) headed 'In Active Dienst/ Per Luchtpost' addressed to Holland bearing Netherlands Indies SG 346, 5c blue and SG 475, 20c brown/ purple (2) tied by Medan date stamp '20th Mar 48'. Fine item.

The Dutch East Indies declared independence from the Netherlands at 10am, 17th August 1945. There followed four years of armed resistance and bloody conflict until the Dutch recognized Independence on the 27th Dec 1949.
