Large envelope from the 'Standard-Vacuum Oil Co, New York' addressed to Palembang bearing United States 'Prexie' SG 804, 4c magenta and SG 811, 10c brown tied by New York, Church St. duplex 'Ap 16 40', hand--stamped 'Shipping Documents' with 'Militaire Censuur/ Palembang' hand-stamp in violet on face.
Scarce 'Militaire Censuur/ Palembang' hand-stamp only in use May and June 1940.
A superb item from the 'P. Bulterman' collection and illustrated in Nico de Weijer's wonderful book on Netherlands Indies WW2 censor's. (Censor does not show so well on scan).
