Netherlands East Indies postal stationery letter sheet 7 1/2c violet (FRONT) written from 'Ngawi Internment Camp' dated '27th May 1940' addressed to Soerabaja cancelled by oval 'Commandant/ Interneeringsk Kamp/ Ngawi' on face with Ngawi date stamp '27/5' and endorsed 'Gecensureerd' with 'Censuur/ Gepasseerd/ 1' hand-stamp in carmine, indicating the letter passed censorship unopened. Attractive item.
The Internment Camp at Ngawi was the old Fort Van den Bosh, it held the most dangerous internees including NSB party members.
