Netherlands East Indies. (Prisoner of War in the Celebes). 1944. Special Prisoner of War card issued for civilians in the Celebes written from 'K. Mobach, Kampili, Celebes' (Camp for women) addressed to her husband in the men's civilian camp Pure Pure.
Card headed 'Tekisei Kokujin Yubin' (Enemy Nationals Post) with boxed 'Tekisei Kokujin Shuyosho Ken'etsuzumi (Enemy Nationals Internment Camp/ Censored) with oval censor cachet of "Tanaka" in orange.
The women handed their messages over to the Camp Office, the cards were then typed with the hut number, top left (11), the card was then sent back to the hut for a signature.
Only 5 cards are known from the Celebes civilian camps plus the "Roele" family correspondence of 10 items in private hands.
