Netherlands East Indies. (Repatriation - Austria). 1947. Air Mail envelope written from Batavia dated '15th November 1947' with four page letter on headed 'United States Navy' note paper addressed to Austria bearing 'Dutch Rule Restored' SG 476, 30c grey and SG 507, 2 5c blue-green tied by Batavia-Centrum date stamp '17th November 47', circular 'Dev/2' censor, erased and censor 'Dev/ 3' applied, censored on arrival in Vienna with brown censor tape and 'Osterreichische Zensurstelle/ W/ 299' on face in violet with special Austrian 'PORTO' tax stamps 5g green (4) applied and tied by Wien receiver '2nd Dec 47.'
Very nice item, the writer could not return to Austria.
