Netherlands East Indies. (Red Cross via Trieste). 1940. Netherlands Indies Red Cross Air Mail envelope addressed to 'Au Bureau International De La Croix Rouge/ Palais du Conseil General, Geneve (Suisse)' bearing Netherlands Indies SG 408, 35c violet tied by Batavia Centrum date stamp '14th Oct 40' with 'Censuur Batavia' label tied by circular 'Het Nederlandsch Indische/ Roode Kruis' in carmine on face and reverse with 'Dew/ 4' censor hand-stamp, routed via Italy with 'Verificato Per Censura/ TS' label tied by 'Commissione Provinciale De Censura/ TS' in carmine and circular '19' hand-stamp on face. Very fine.
Desrousseaux states in 'Livre' 5 page 374 the route via Trieste was only used April - May 1941.
