Netherlands East Indies. (R.A.F. Post). 1946. Stamp-less envelope headed 'On Active Service' written from the 'R.A.F. Batavia' addressed to 'A.P..C. H.Q. Chaplains Dept. Singapore, S.E.A.A.F. (South East Asia Australian Forces) cancelled by 'R.A.F. Post/ 209 double ring '15th May 46.'
The Royal Air Force were in Batavia, Java from '21st Nov 45 until 15th Oct 46.

The Dutch East Indies declared independence from the Netherlands at 10am, 17th August 1945. There followed four years of armed resistance and bloody conflict until the Dutch recognized Independence on tte 27th Dec 1949.
