Stamp-less envelope written from Buitenzog addressed to Batavia cancelled by circular Buitenzog on face in red with double ring 'Java/ General Post Office/ Batavia/ Dol - Lors/ Styvers' in red and endorsed 'Service' with manuscript 'CITO' for Express Mail and signed 'G.A. Addision' in lower left.
Very scarce item of Express Mail service from the British Occupation of Java.
G.A. Addision wrote a number of private letters during the period of British rule in Java and appear in his publication "Original Familiar Correspondence with sketches of Java" published in 1846.
