Netherlands East Indies. (Veldpost). 1948. Envelope headed 'In Actieve Dienst/ Veldpost' (On Active Service)written from 'V-Brigade, Poerwokerto' addressed to Semarang cancelled by '18' date stamp '30th ar 48' with 'Inf V./ Andjing - N.I.C.A.' logo on face. Very attractive item from the Netherlands Indies Civil Administration.
The Dutch East Indies declared independence from the Netherlands at 10am, 17th August 1945. There followed four years of armed resistance and bloody conflict until the Dutch recognized Independence on the 27th Dec 1949.
