Netherlands East Indies. (Veldpost - Dutch Rule Restored). 1947. Air Mail envelope addressed to Czechoslovakia bearing 'Dutch Rule Restored' SG 477, 60c slate tied by Veldpost - Semarang double ring with circular 'Deviezen Controle/ Semarang' censor cachet on face. Very fine, scarce censor.
The Dutch East Indies declared independence from the Netherlands at 10am 17th August 1945. There followed four years of armed resistance and bloody conflict until the Dutch recognized independence on the 27th Dec 1949.
